Residential Support Worker

Salary:  £25,100 per annum

Location:  Rhydyfelin, Rhondda Cynon Taf - The project is situated in easy commute of the M4 Cardiff and A470 Pontypridd/Merthyr Tydfil.

Contract/Hours:  Permanent, Part-time – 25 hours per week

This Residential Support Worker role guides a dedicated team through shifts with expertise and empathy. Their proactive approach to risk management, safeguards our young people's wellbeing allowing us to deliver the highest quality of care. With a commitment to continuous improvement, they'll ensure the wellbeing of our children and young people is prioritised by delivering personalised care, guidance and advocacy. In return we'll offer you amazing opportunities to progress within our organisation.​

We'll enrol you in the qualifications which you need to move towards a Registered Manager role. Once you have gained the relevant experience and qualifications you'll be ready to progress to the next step in your career with us.

About the service

Rhondda Short Breaks provides overnight short breaks for children and young people from Rhondda Cynon Taff who have physical disability, learning disabilities and complex needs.

This service is available for young people aged 5-18 years old, giving them a high-quality break from home and their families some much-needed rest.

Many of the children we support may have substantial and highly complex needs and playing outside benefits their health, wellbeing and development.

How you'll help to create brighter futures 

Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk.Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.Lead shifts with the primary aim of the provision of a high-quality service.Supervise and guide staff as required, in accordance with Action for Children policies and procedures.Lead by example with the application of Action for Children's policy procedures and professional practice standards and in line with registration requirements

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We're looking for Residential Support Workers with a ‘can do' attitude to join our team. Ideally you'll have: 

Experience of leading Shifts in a Care settingLevel 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent).Experience and training in safeguardingAn innovative and creative approach to problem solvingExperience of developing tailored care plansThe ability to create a safe and fun environment for both staff and children in the home and in the community
