Main duties of the job

The Paramedic will be a part of oururgent care team and will be responsible for face-to-face appointment, home visitsand assisting with telephone triage to clinically examine, diagnose and treatpatients presenting with illness / injury.

We are looking for someone who iseducated to degree / diploma level in Paramedicine, is currently registeredwith the HCPC and has a full, clean UK driving licence. The successful candidate will need to havecompleted a 2 year consolidation of learning period as a newly qualifiedParamedic and will have completed a further 3 years experienceas a band 6 (or equivalent)Paramedic.

Job description

Job responsibilities

TheParamedic will act as an autonomous practitioner who is able to workindependently and in conjunction with other members of the urgent care teamattending to patients.

TheParamedic will diagnose and treat patients presenting with illness/injury andwill see and advise patients in respect of their continuing medical needs,whether that be at their homes or at the Practice.

The post holder will be an experienced caring Paramedicwho can demonstrate competent clinical skills whilst working within theirprofessional boundaries.

Toassess, triage, diagnose and treat patients face to face and via telephone accordingly,performing specialist assessment of their needs and make referrals as necessaryto other members of the primary and secondary health care teams. Torequest diagnostic investigations and interpret within agreed protocols x-ray, blood tests, scans, etc. Toclinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological andpsychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly, explainingmedical problems during surgery consultations. Whenqualified as an independent prescriber, to review and prescribe medication thatis appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with latest evidence-basedpractice, national and practice protocols and within the scope of qualifiedpractice. Toensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries ofcompetence, and to acknowledge limitations, embarking upon further training ifrequired.
