Post Title: Cover SupervisorWorking Time: Term Time – (Tue–Thu) – (Mon)32 hours per week (including Inset Days)Grade: Scale 4 point 9 – 17 Disclosure Level: This post is subject to a current Enhanced DisclosureLine Manager: Assistant Head The post holder is required to support the school’s Christian ethos and its objectives, policies and procedures as detailed in the current Staff Handbook and Policy File. Main purpose of the role• To supervise whole classes undertaking pre-prepared activities provided by a teacher during the short-term absence of a classroom teacher. • The primary focus is to maintain order and to keep pupils on task.• To work with individuals and small groups to support learning across the school Core responsibilities and tasksKey duties:• Supervise pre-prepared activities and self-directed learning in the short-term planned / unplanned absence of teachers to provide continuity of learning for pupils • Prepare the classroom/outside areas for lessons, ensuring that resources are available and cleared away at the end of the lessons as appropriate • Register pupils on Arbor in a timely manner • Following the school behaviour policy, manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking work • Collect any completed work after the lesson and return it to the appropriate teacher along with feedback from the lesson• Report back as appropriate using agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising.• To work with individuals and small groups to support learning across the curriculum, directed by the teacher• Undertake the duties of a Teaching Assistant when not required to provide cover• Undertaken other duties as and when required• Assist in extra-curricular clubs• Supervise pupils on educational and out of school activities• Undertake exam invigilation.Additional InformationThe post holder is also expected • To play a full part in the life of the school community, to support its mission and ethos and to encourage staff and students to follow this example.• To promote actively the school’s corporate policies.• To promote equality as an integral part of the role and to treat everyone with fairness and dignity.• To promote the welfare of children and to support the school in safeguarding children though relevant policies and procedures• To continue personal development.• Establish effective working relationships and set a good example through their presentation and personal and professional conduct.• To engage actively in the performance review process.• Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the Headteacher commensurate to the salary and the roleNOTES• Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post, each individual task undertaken many not be identified.• Employees will be expected to comply with any reasonable request from a manager to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description.• Employees are expected to be courteous to colleagues and provide a welcoming environment to visitors and telephone callers.• The school will endeavour to make any necessary reasonable adjustment to the job and the working environment to enable access to employment opportunities for disabled job applicants or continued employment for any employee who develops a disabling condition.• The responsibilities for this post are subject to the general duties and responsibilities contained in The Statement of Conditions of Employment.• This job description allocates duties and responsibilities but does not direct the particular amount of time to be spent on carrying them out and no part of it may be so constructed.
