An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Ward 32. We would like to give our trained nurses a chance to enhance their knowledge and hone their skills.
We currently have an opportunity for a band 6 secondment. Ward 32 is a very busy surgical ward with a vibrant and dynamic team. We are a very friendly team.
Ward 32 cares for a mixture of elective and emergency surgical patients. You will be dealing with acutely unwell patients with varying complex needs. We transfer patients to Intensive Care and also receive patients from the Intensive Care Unit. You will have ample opportunity to learn and develop yourself as a Staff Nurse in this supportive environment. We are also in the process of developing an Enhanced Surgical Care Unit. This will be a specialist unit that is dedicated to care for post-operative surgical patients who otherwise would require HDU care.
Main duties of the job
You should possess excellent communication skills, be able to adapt to any situation and be able to demonstrate leadership skills. You should be able to support change and keep within confines of the budgets. You must be prepared to teach others your invaluable skills and attend regular updates; you will have the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team whilst being a role model to others, you will aid the running of Admissions on a day to day basis ensuring high standards of care are given.
Practice Assessor qualification is desirable.
You will act as a support to new staff members and work alongside patient improvement projects.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.
Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)
