Job summary

We are looking for an experienced psychologist to work with the MDT to lead, shape and innovate.

Suffolk has a track record of progressive working across the Integrated Care System. This exciting role will provide clinical leadership for the development of the required range of psychological interventions within the secondary community mental health teams as well as support developments in primary care. You will develop and build good relationships with operational managers and other senior clinicians.

You will be well supported with supervision, have access to leadership training, and you will be part of a Trust-wide supportive network of psychologists and therapists as well as being part of the local Suffolk Consultant Psychologists Group. Your leadership development will be supported, with relevant training available.

Main duties of the job

Provide 2 days direct clinical work to the Ipswich community team based at Mariner House

Provide clinical leadership to the psychology in the adult community pathway across East Suffolk

Oversee governance of the psychology and therapies service in the locality including supervision, appraisals and job planning

Lead in developing NICE recommended evidence-based interventions for a range of complex needs including Complex Emotional Needs/trauma, Psychosis/Bipolar and complex anxiety and depression.

Lead on workforce planning and development of staff

Provide clinical supervision to a range of staff

Provide training

Contribute to the Suffolk Clinical Governance process to improve clinical effectiveness, patient safety and impact of the service user/carer voice

Work across the Integrated Care System to collaboratively develop services in line with the Long-Term Plan

This role requires face to face presence for a minimum of 3 days a week. There would be flexibility to work remotely for the remaining 1 or 2 days.

You will be joining the service at a time service transformation, bringing opportunities to develop leadership and work collaboratively with others to develop safe and effective services to meet the needs of the local population. You will be supported, and leadership training and development opportunities are available.

Qualifications

Essential

Training in clinical psychology at postgraduate doctoral level, as accredited by the BPS (British Psychological Society) or equivalent Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist

Desirable

Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice

Experience

Essential

Experience of working with service users within the designated specialty Experience of teaching, training professional and clinical supervision

Desirable

Post qualification experience within the designated specialty where the post is located Experience of leading qualified and pre-qualified clinical psychologists Supervising and training others to do research

Skills

Essential

Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management. A high level ability to communicate complex information effectively Working in partnership Ability to contain and work with organisational stress and ability to 'hold' the stress of others Ability to demonstrate leadership skills
