THIS ROLE IS FOR A FIXED TERM CONTRACT WITH AN IMMEDIATE START
JOB PURPOSE
As the Group Tax and Projects Accountant, you will be responsible for compliance with tax matters across the group along with ad hoc projects as required. Having grown as a group at a fast pace and with ambition for that to continue, we have many entities and lots of varied businesses that need the support of our group finance team, including both subsidiaries and joint ventures.
The role will look after tax matters, leases and insurance and be a key member of the team, keeping the wider team and business up to date.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is an important role within GRS, with primary responsibility to:
Group Tax
- Submission of PAYE settlement agreements and working to improve data.
- VAT returns preparation and review of submissions, investigating and resolving queries with the transactional teams.
- Corporation Tax computations - using OneSource Tax Software, preparation and review of supporting schedules and data.
- Collection of information from other group companies to enable accurate CT600 returns.
- Assessment of CIR and submission of return.
- Following up queries and responding to feedback from external tax advisors.
- Ensuring compliance with IR35, including contract assessments.
- Maintaining and updating tax risk register.
- Ensuring records are in place for imports and maintaining relationship with agents.
- Preparing management summaries and updates on progress in regard to tax controls.
- Supporting SAO with reporting requirements.
- Calculating the quarterly payment on accounts due for corporation tax.
- Reviewing capital allowances and ensuring the correct allowances are claimed and that records support claims, particularly reconciliation between the FAR and tax pools.
- Liaising with external tax advisors.
Leases
- Update of lease database, improving data capture.
- Preparing our lease records for the future change in FRS102.
- Preparing lease payment forecasts and feeding these into the cash flow forecast.
Insurance
- Gathering and preparing data for the insurance renewals including updating of schedules.
- Improving allocation process and bringing in automation.
Adhoc
- Assisting with Group projects as required by the Group Financial Controller.
- Keeping up to date on tax changes affecting the business and training finance and the business where appropriate on the change and updating procedures accordingly.
- Any other ad-hoc reporting as required.
Working at our head office in Nuneaton and reporting to the Group Financial Controller, may require attendance at meetings around the country on an ad-hoc basis.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB
- Must be highly competent in preparing HMRC submissions and have experience of the following taxes: Corporation Tax (Essential) and employment taxes (PSA, IR35) & VAT (Desirable)
- Ability to work under own initiative and solve problems.
- Ability to meet strict reporting deadlines & proactively manage workload.
- Good communication skills as the role will deal with senior management across the business and review work from other team members.
- CIMA/ACCA qualified with 3-4 years experience.
- Must be immediately available and happy with a 3 month fixed term contract.
