We are looking to recruit an SC Cleared Technical Business Analyst with experience and knowledge of MATLAB to join a leading and reputable financial services organisation. This is an initial 6 month contract and the project involves a comprehensive analysis, documentation, and potential migration of legacy MATLAB code to a more modern, sustainable platform. If you have a strong technical background, particularly with MATLAB, and experience in the banking or financial services sector, we would love to hear from you.


This is a hybrid role and you will be required to work on site in London 50% of the time.


Key Responsibilities:


Discovery/Advisory:


  • Document the current MATLAB codebase in plain English, including core logic and all functions.
  • Create detailed process maps and documentation, even for currently unused functions.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of updating/upgrading the current MATLAB version (circa 2012).
  • Analyse and document different variables within the code, identifying potential changes.
  • Provide recommendations for transitioning the code to other languages such as R or Python.
  • Conduct SWOT analysis and provide integration recommendations with other systems.
  • Review internal investigation findings and develop a fix for identified issues, ensuring a robust future state with appropriate testing and support models.
  • Develop an automated testing pack.
  • Compare current practices against industry standards and best practices.
  • Rewrite allocation code in MATLAB, R, Python, or other recommended languages.
  • Recommend improvements to the allocation process and coding practices.
  • Advise on best practices and options for future development, focusing on supportability, availability, and long-term sustainability.
  • Enhance documentation and understanding of code parameters and their amendability.
  • Provide guidance on future support and change management for the code.
  • Establish regular testing protocols, including automated testing for regression and future changes.


Delivery and Support Model:


  • Outline pathways to update MATLAB to newer versions, minimizing risk.
  • Develop a technical support model for business-as-usual maintenance and changes.
  • Conduct training and handover sessions with market teams to ensure smooth transitions.


Capabilities Required:


  • Strong proficiency in MATLAB is essential.
  • Experience with Python and R is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Rshiny is a plus.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience working with C-level executives.
  • Excellent engagement and planning skills.
  • Experience in project management or change management is desirable.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services sector is highly desirable.


Qualifications:


  • Proven experience in a similar Technical Business Analyst role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
