London, UK, United Kingdom myGwork Full time

This inclusive employer is a member of myGwork – the largest global platform for the LGBTQ+ business community.

Company Description

Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money. Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.

Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their life easier and save them money.

As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money. For everyone, everywhere.

More about our mission.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior PR Manager to help build and manage Wise’s reputation in the UK, particularly across key national and financial press.

You’ll do this by building a communications strategy that maximises the corporate news pipeline, delivers global corporate announcements and brings Wise to life with creative and innovative reputation building campaigns to ensure that Wise is well known across a diverse set of external stakeholders, including policymakers and customers.

You’ll be comfortable handling complicated or tricky issues when they come up, and working with journalists to ensure that Wise’s reputation is upheld. You’re not daunted by industry jargon or technical details and know how to dive into the product or a topic to understand the details, and then simplify them for your audiences.

You’ll primarily focus on the UK, while also working with members of the global PR team to deliver projects globally. You have strong press contacts in national and financial media. You’re proactive, creative and enjoy working in a fast-paced global team and organisation.

You will be based in our London office, reporting to the EMEA Communications Lead.

Key areas of focus for the role:

  • You’ll proactively build and execute PR programmes that build Wise’s reputation and drive trust in Wise - including delivering substantial media coverage, meaningful speaking opportunities for our global and regional spokespeople

  • You’ll develop communications strategies that build awareness of Wise in influential national and financial press, and handle issues when they arise

  • You’ll embed within the global cross-functional teams to own the corporate news flow, and work with members of the global PR team to deliver key news moments globally too

  • You’ll leverage the media relationships that already exist, and are able to add more

  • You’ll building up and work with key spokespersons, including company leadership

What you’ll get

We offer you a position in one of the UK’s foremost tech companies and a chance to truly be a part of something great. It goes without saying that you’ll be a part of a fun, friendly atmosphere, with plenty of opportunities to grow personally and professionally.

You’ll get a competitive salary, flexible work hours and international travel. Everyone gets shares in the company too, because we believe that what we’re building belongs to each of us.

What is it really like to work here?

At Wise, we do things a bit differently. There’s no corporate nonsense and no old-fashioned hierarchy. Instead, we work in individually responsible teams. Each team owns how they want to solve the problems we’re working on together and gets on with it - so there’s no micro-management or people telling you what to do. You will get tons of guidance and support from talented, super-smart colleagues from all over Wise. The way we work doesn’t suit everyone. But, if the freedom to take on head-scratching professional challenges sounds interesting, we could be a match made in heaven.

Qualifications

What you’ll need:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in corporate and financial communications in the UK - this could be in-house or at a PR agency.

  • An innate understanding of what makes a good story for the media, and how to secure great quality media coverage

  • An ability to build relationships with key media, alongside deepening existing media relationships

  • Experience analysing complex topics and technical data and turning them into simple and compelling messages and stories

  • Experience working with company leaders and building the profiles of key spokespeople through speaking engagements, profile interviews, opinion and byline submissions and proactive pitches

  • An ability to work proactively, independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-growth company

  • You’re not afraid to get hands on, working side by side with cross-functional and global teams across the function and broader organisation

  • A genuine, enthusiastic interest in our mission and developing and communicating great ideas to make financial services fairer

  • Excellent written and spoken English
