Do you have the empathy, drive and people skills required to support the thousands of fundraisers taking part in charity challenges on behalf of a leading, well-established charity?

As a leading cancer charity now entering its 3rd decade, our client is a well-established organisation with an instantly recognisable profile. Their supporters have helped to raise over £139m allowing them to drive their missions of supporting future health and well-being and increasing awareness.


Working closely with the Head of Fundraising, the successful candidate will provide holistic support and inspiration to people taking part in charity events, challenges and activities and help manage their progress. In addition, they'll help develop new fundraising initiatives and diversify the fundraising income across the organisation.


This is a fantastic opportunity to play an important, outward facing role ensuring high levels of supporter engagement across some of the most high-profile participation events in the UK.


Key Responsibilities


  • Resolve day to day queries about the running of the online fundraising pages as they arise as well as more general fundraising queries.
  • Develop a relationship and provide advice, motivation and support to walkers taking part in our unique challenges through telephone calls and emails.
  • Follow up with people experiencing difficulties and encourage them to achieve fundraising deadlines.
  • Become proficient at using the Give Star fundraising registration platform.
  • Identify the higher fundraisers taking part in events and offer more personalised support and help, developing a pipeline where appropriate.
  • Follow up fundraisers who miss deadlines to offer extra support and motivation.
  • Thank supporters by telephone, email and letter.
  • Cross promote activities to supporters.
  • Communicate issues and answer internal fundraising queries from the other teams.
  • Record all communications on the ThankQ database.
  • Help manage the processes and administration for fundraising items such as collection tubs, buckets and banners.
  • Assist with the development of fundraising activities such as working with fundraising groups, community fundraising, promoting the lottery, monthly donors, potential leavers of legacies and giving campaigns.
  • Be able to bring experience and advice to help with the growth and development of new income streams.
  • Attend events as required and write social media posts, blogs and emails for mass communications.
  • Assist with the compilation of reports for the Trustees.



Skills & Experience


  • Experience of at least one area of fundraising and must have worked in a fundraising department.
  • Customer support experience including speaking to them on the telephone and able to build up a relationship.
  • Good problem-solving abilities with good understanding of current technology.
  • Experience of multi-tasking and prioritising with strong administrative experience
  • Attention to detail verbally and written
  • Online digital experience and ideally, of using a fundraising database.
  • Ability to write eye catching copy for email and social media and influence and motivate people
  • An interest and/or experience in fitness, health and walking
  • Good writing skills and an understanding of the principles of good customer care and the accountabilities of a charity to its donors and supporters
  • Excellent communication skills on all levels, telephone, written, and personal communication
  • Comfortable with numeracy and able to calculate simple mathematics
  • Ability to motivate and influence others
  • Self-motivated and able to think outside the box
  • Confident and friendly with an uplifting and positive character
  • A good team player
  • Driven and energetic
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a pressurised and both proactive and reactive environments
