Role Purpose

  • Assisting with planning applications and providing noise-related feedback
  • Examining section 61 applications about noise from active construction and the potential effects of that noise when construction is finished
  • Knowing what aspects of a planning application they can and cannot comment on, as well as how noise affects planning


Responsibilities

  • To communicate clearly with clients, stakeholders, and elected officials about applications made to the local planning authority in order to deliver an efficient and timely end-to-end planning service with outstanding customer care.
  • Conduct site visits, precisely record and document information, and make sure that all relevant data is entered into the online planning records.
  • Where relevant, to investigate and act upon alleged breaches of planning control in accordance with adopted policy and procedure, including carrying research and site visits, updating customers and, where necessary, drafting instructions for formal action and serving notices and associated legal documents.
  • Where relevant, to also investigate and act upon alleged breaches of other planning and environment-related legislation including that relating to the amenity and environmental impacts arising from construction activity


Requirements

  • Experience of planning and noise background, acoustics.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as environmental health, public health, or law enforcement.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a local government or regulatory agency.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices related to public protection.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Public Protection Officer/similar: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification
