Technical Writer - Mainframe Modernization Project

About the Role:

In this role, you'll be a key member of the Mainframe Modernization team, responsible for creating user-friendly, informative documentation for both end users and support teams. You'll work closely with developers to understand the new system and translate their technical knowledge into clear instructions and troubleshooting guides.


Responsibilities:

  • Craft easy-to-understand user documentation covering installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and software change notices.
  • Bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences by translating developer jargon into clear, concise language.
  • Collaborate with the project team and scrum master to accurately estimate time needed for documentation tasks.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality documentation that adheres to established style guides and ensures consistency.
  • Analyze existing and potential content to identify areas for improvement and ensure all necessary information is included.
  • Proactively monitor documentation delivery timelines and maintain high quality standards.


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience developing software technical documentation
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong eye for detail
  • Experience with procedural software documentation a plus
  • Familiarity with the retail domain (preferred)
  • A knack for grasping complex technical concepts and presenting them clearly through text, images, and flowcharts.
