You will be working as part of a collaborative 30-person finance team distributed across the UK Group. We have dedicated finance leads in each business who either have their own finance team or are supported by the central finance team in Sunderland. This role will sit within the central finance team and will be mainly remote with the option to use our office located in central London. Whilst the role initially has no direct reports, there is scope for this to change in the future and the role will need to work closely with the other businesses, their finance leads and management teams. The role will formally report into the Senior Finance Manager and will work closely with the group team on a day-to-day basis.


Main purpose of the job


As we look to further centralise and streamline our shared services, additional support is required in the finance team. The candidate will be responsible for preparing management accounts for various companies across the group. They will also play a part in standardizing processes as we ultimately migrate all businesses onto one finance system.


Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Support to Senior Finance Manager
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to the team
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and variance analysis
  • Calculation of depreciation, prepayments, accruals and other provisions
  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and taking action to resolve issues as they arise
  • Payroll reconciliations
  • Support in delivering the year end accounts including preparation of year end audit files and provision of information to the auditors
  • Preparation of short term and long term cash flow forecasts
  • Preparation of quarterly VAT returns including turnover reconciliations
  • Deliver process improvements and identify opportunities to make repetitive tasks more efficient
  • Assist with migration of brands to our finance system (Unit4)
  • Preparation of month-end reports required for senior management meetings
  • Ad-hoc reporting as required by management and other functions within the group
  • Daily banking tasks including reviewing / authorising payments
  • Absence cover for other members of the finance team
  • Ad-hoc tasks as required


Knowledge & experience:

  • Qualified accountant – ACA / ACCA / CIMA
  • Management accounting and VAT experience is essential
  • Knowledge of Unit4 Business World (Agresso) – not essential but preferred
