About the Role:
The Depot Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily management of five highways depots in Surrey, ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of services 24/7. This role involves managing staff, resources, and equipment to maintain high standards of service and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the depot, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Manage all aspects of HS&E compliance for the five depots that are located across Surrey. This includes Emergency arrangements, first aid, and fire management.
- Make sure that each depot has an up-to-date Depot Management Plan that is regularly reviewed under the requirements detailed within the plan.
- Ensure that third-party audits, such as BSI, are facilitated and any actions are recorded, managed and closed out.
- Develop and implement a robust auditing regime.
- Ensure that stock is procured in accordance with company processes and that minimum stock levels are maintained including undertaking monthly stock audits.
- General facilities management requirements are undertaken to ensure the depots are a safe place to work.
- Management of plant and equipment including compliance such as LOLER.
- Manage waste streams entering and leaving the depot.
Qualifications:
- Full Driving Licence
- Proven experience in depot or operations management, preferably within the highways or transportation sector
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations
- Good financial management and budgeting skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Required Skills:
- Relevant qualifications in management, logistics, or a related field.
- Experience with traffic management and highways maintenance
- Experience in facilities management.
Preferred Skills:
- Relevant qualifications in management, logistics, or a related field.
