Sr. Release Train Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic Release Train Engineer (RTE) with a strong programming background to join our Agile Release Train (ART) team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, software development processes, and a passion for driving efficiency and quality in software releases. As an RTE, you will play a critical role in orchestrating and facilitating the release planning, execution, and delivery processes across multiple teams within the organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and facilitator for the Agile Release Train (ART) and its teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and development teams to ensure alignment with release objectives and priorities.
  • Lead and facilitate release planning events, including PI (Program Increment) planning, backlog refinement, and dependency management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the release process, increase productivity, and enhance quality.
  • Monitor release progress, identify risks and impediments, and take proactive measures to mitigate issues.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and accountability within the ART.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and support to Agile teams to ensure adherence to Agile principles and best practices.
  • Utilize your programming background to understand technical complexities and provide valuable insights into release planning and execution.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to Agile methodologies and release management.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and/or SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) or similar role in an Agile environment.
  • Strong understanding of Agile principles, values, and practices.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or similar.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
