We are partnering with a prestigious defense client based in Guildford, renowned for their cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions in the defense sector. As they continue to expand their capabilities, they are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Manager with a focus on C++ Development to lead and oversee critical projects within their engineering division.


As the Engineering Manager focusing on C++ Development, you will play a vital role in managing and driving the success of multiple development projects. While this position does not involve direct people management, you will be responsible for project leadership, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and reliable software solutions that meet the stringent requirements of our defense clients.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage the development of software projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide expert guidance and oversight on C++ development, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, product managers, and external stakeholders, to define project requirements and deliverables.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous testing and validation processes to ensure the reliability and performance of software solutions.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of project plans, technical specifications, and progress reports.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement in software development.


Requirements:

  • Citizenship: Must be a British citizen eligible for Security Clearance (SC Clearable).
  • Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience in software development with a strong focus on C++.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in C++ development, with a deep understanding of software design patterns, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Project Management: Proven track record of leading and managing complex software projects.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle challenging technical issues.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.


Desirable:

  • Experience in the defense industry or working on defense-related projects.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for defense software.
  • Familiarity with modern development tools and methodologies.
