The company

Our Leicester based client are a global design agency of creative retail solutions for many of the leading iconic beauty and cosmetic brands.

They are looking for an experienced Mid Weight development designer to join their team in a full time and permanent role. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 1-2 years experience within a manufacturing or design agency setting working on Retail solutions ideally with cosmetic/beauty brands.


The role

As part of the development design team you will be responsible for understanding customer needs and translating them into innovative retail display solutions, using a combination of 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD). You will take client supplied design intent or assortment and develop into a build intent or planogram solution. Development Designers excel at producing value-add ideas, defining product specifications (material, finish, process, fit, functionality, aesthetic), and developing products that can be effectively manufactured.


Responsibilities

Working directly with the client and retailers (subject to previous experience) to better understand the brand and consumer ambition

Consulting with other team members to establish and evaluate project requests and deliverables

Presenting design development proposals (Planogram | Presentations | Build Intent) to approved solutions

Consider design for sustainability, design for value-add, and design for manufacturing

Creating development solutions that are innovative, sustainable, cost-effective, and manufacturable

Creating planogram or value-engineered presentations using a variety of techniques that include technical illustrations and 3d SolidWorks Modeling


Skills

2-3 years experience in Development Design – POS

Hold a university degree in Product Design or similar

Sound knowledge of Microsoft office and associated software

Knowledge/experience of materials and manufacturing processes

Capable of preparing drawings, illustrations, renderings, presentations, or rough sketches

Good Judgment and problem-solving skills using logic and reasoning to identify alternate solutions

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Good Time Management Skills

Client facing skills
