Our client is a leading consultancy who provide professional engineering and planning services to the power sector. They are instrumental in helping support the UK with its transition to net zero. They plan, design, and deliver major power projects that link the UK’s renewable power to its major towns and cities.
They specialise in the planning consents, design and survey of Overhead Lines, Underground Cables, and Substation Systems from LV to EHV in the UK and internationally playing a critical role in a country's major power infrastructure projects.
To support their innovative solutions for various infrastructure projects, they are seeking a talented and motivated Geotechnical Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join their team. This full-time position offers a hybrid work arrangement (2 days remote, 3 days in the office) after the probationary period.
The role
As a member of the geotechnical department's design team, you will report to a Principal Geotechnical Engineer and collaborate within a project team to deliver projects that meet exacting standards, adhere to budget constraints, and align with project timelines throughout the conceptual, detailed design, and construction phases. Your responsibilities will include managing projects from the initial desk study phase through ground model development, site investigation, ground model refinement, and foundation design.
You will have the opportunity to work in a supportive and friendly culture where your opinions and experience will be valued. Our client is committed to investing in their employees' professional growth and development, offering support for chartership if desired. You will also be encouraged and supported to explore and pursue any work or speciality in which you have prior experience.
- Conduct geotechnical investigations and prepare detailed reports for clients.
- Perform slope stability analyses, settlement calculations, and other related assessments.
- Develop and implement geotechnical designs for various infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and project managers to deliver successful projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- This position requires a strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and the practical implementation of British Standard and Eurocode Design.
The candidate
We are looking for an ambitious and dynamic individual with a passion for green energy.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering, geology, geotechnical engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in geotechnical or civil engineering, preferably within a consultancy environment.
- Ideally a member of a professional institution and working towards chartership with ICE or GSL.
- Enthusiastic and flexible approach to work.
- Self-motivated and results oriented.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Hold a valid UK driving licence.
Why join our client?
This is a great opportunity to join a well-established high performing team who can offer a good work life balance. Over the past two years the business has invested in itself, with certain teams doubling in size with the aim of continuing to grow as the work from their key clients ramps up.
They can offer the successful individual a unique opportunity to work at the UK’s leading multi-disciplinary survey, design and engineering consultancy in the utilities sector, whose company culture gives a lot of autonomy, respect and flexibility for those who join them. As it's not a large organisation you can benefit from being recognised and valued as an individual, rather than just being another number.
