e-Quality Learning provides training on Assistive Technology hardware and software to help individuals of all ages manage disabilities such as Specific Learning Difficulties (for example, dyslexia), mental health difficulties, visual impairments, and more.​.


The Role:


The role of an Assistive Technology Trainer is to provide training in assistive technology (software and hardware) in both education and the workplace. This will allow our learners to use the recommended equipment to its full potential.


This role will involve both remote and onsite training.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver training to suit learner’s individual needs.
  • Provide familiarisation in order to build a basic level of confidence for the learner in the usage of their equipment, software, and accessories.
  • Provide training on a range of assistive software packages, typically voice dictation, literacy support, mind mapping and recording/notetaking solutions.
  • Training for students is usually recommended in block sessions, generally in 1, 2- or 3-hour formats.
  • Attend any relevant training or meetings and have the ability to develop existing skills.


Requirements:

  • To be flexible with providing availability between 8am-7pm Monday to Friday and weekend hours as requested. Please note, you are not expected to provide availability for all of these hours.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A good standard of general IT skills and a passion for technology.
  • Be able to travel up to 1.5 hours from your location for training sessions either on public transport or via access to your own vehicle.
  • You will develop the confidence to train learners with a range of disabilities independently, tailoring your training to their individual learning styles.
  • Able to assess learner’s needs and devise an appropriate Individual Learning Plan (ILP).
  • Take a logical approach to problem solving and pay close attention to detail.

Further Information:


Previous experience in training or teaching roles is preferable but not essential as training will be provided. As part of your development, you will take part in eQL’ s Train the Trainer programme and complete accredited training days for specific software.
