With accreditation at over 40 venues in London, we cater to more than 400 events annually. The scale and variety of these events demonstrate our expertise in handling challenging projects while consistently pushing the boundaries of what is achievable.


Moving Venue has announced an exclusive partnership with Freemasons’ Hall to become the official caterer for external commercial events and in-house lodge dining. This collaboration represents a significant milestone for both organisations, aiming to enhance the dining experience at one of London’s most prestigious venues.


Moving Venue will provide comprehensive catering services across Freemasons’ Hall, ensuring exceptional quality and service for every event, from intimate meetings to grand receptions.


Freemasons’ Hall, a historic art deco building in Covent Garden, serves as the global headquarters for English Freemasonry and houses 22 meeting rooms, along with the Museum of Freemasonry. Under this partnership, Smart Group, which acquired Moving Venue in 2015, will bolster sales efforts at the venue, while Smart Christmas Parties will exclusively manage the site during the festive period.


Moving Venue is seeking a highly organised and creative individual to join their team, someone who can think outside the box and consistently delight guests with flair and innovation.



PURPOSE OF THE ROLE


The Head Chef is responsible for leading the culinary operations at the venue, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food that meets the venue's standards and client expectations. This role involves managing the kitchen team, assist with menu development, and ensuring compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations. The Head Chef plays a crucial role in maintaining the venue’s reputation for excellence by creating exceptional dining experiences.



PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


  • Ensure the smooth execution of all events at Freemasons' Hall.
  • Plan and coordinate food orders for each event.
  • Attend weekly pre-event meetings to ensure proper preparation.
  • Schedule and book all necessary staff for on-site event delivery.
  • Collaborate with the chef team at the production kitchen to facilitate efficient preparation.
  • Develop and update quarterly menus in alignment with Freemasons' standards.
  • Delegate tasks effectively within the kitchen team, fostering staff motivation and professional growth.
  • Work with the senior chef team to ensure adequate staffing levels for food preparation.
  • Schedule and manage casual or agency staff according to business demands.
  • Partner with the Head of Production to ensure food delivery on-site and at the base meets client expectations and adheres to relevant regulations.
  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of new dishes and menus alongside the Group Executive Chef.
  • Monitor food preparation across all sections of the base kitchen to ensure timely and quality production.
  • Ensure compliance with Food Safety legislation and best practices in food production and storage.
  • Oversee the recording and retention of necessary Food Safety and Health and Safety documentation by Head Chefs and the Packing and Dispatch Manager.
  • Attend daily chefs' meetings to ensure all aspects of event preparation are covered.
  • Actively seek out information on new products, ingredients, kitchen budgets, and costings to enhance knowledge of kitchen operations and food production.
  • Assist the Senior Kitchen Manager with ordering and purchasing necessary food products.


HEALTH & SAFETY/FOOD SAFETY DUTIES


  • Support the Production Head Chef at the base kitchen to ensure full compliance with the Group’s Food Safety Policy, Health and Safety regulations, and all relevant legislation. Oversee that all necessary records are up-to-date and submitted to the Kitchen Manager for retention.
  • Assist in maintaining the base kitchen cleaning schedule, ensuring that all equipment is cleaned and maintained in accordance with COSHH and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Complete all required training, including mandatory and online courses, and ensure that your team has undertaken all relevant training.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as needed to support the efficient and profitable management of the company.
  • Contribute to meeting the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility Policy by reducing waste in all aspects of operations and minimizing the environmental impact of food and material disposal.
