About EqualEngineers:

We strive to create a more inclusive environment where engineering professionals from all backgrounds can thrive. Our mission is to harness the power of engineering to create social justice and make the world a better place.

As part of our commitment to this mission, we are seeking Skills Bootcamp Trainers to deliver components of our Engineering Skills Bootcamps under contract to a range of local authorities over 3 or 4 weeks. The training sessions support a guaranteed interview scheme aimed at placing learners into relevant employment.

As a Skills Bootcamp Trainer, you will provide training in one or more of our delivery locations. These would be in person with practical skills development supported by technical content. This position requires a passionate individual who believes in making a difference through education, particularly in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in engineering fields.

You will help participants to see themselves in engineering roles. Alongside the practical skills development, the Skills Bootcamps aim to develop confidence in learners that Engineering roles exist and they are suitable to fill them. Our offer is aimed primarily at unemployed people in the local authority areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Delivery: Deliver the Engineering Skills Bootcamp content provided the EqualEngineers in an approachable, engaging and stimulating way to the participants, ensuring that each learner is given what they need to learn the course material in their own way.

Individual Support: Provide one-to-one sessions with the learners across the duration of each Skills Bootcamp to understand individual needs and progress.

Feedback and Reporting: Gather and report data and feedback in line with EqualEngineers requirements, and reflect on this to support continuous improvement of delivery.

Compliance: Comply with all EqualEngineers policies and procedures, particularly those within the remit of the Education & Training Quality Assurance requirements.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex principles at various levels to different audiences and engage with a diverse range of learners.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Experience working in or with the engineering sector.
  • Live in one of the key areas outlined: Surrey, Norfolk, Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Derbyshire, or Nottinghamshire.
  • Ability to adapt educational content to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
  • Experience administering assessment of skills and related technical knowledge.
  • The ability to deliver content on employment skills, such as CV writing and interview preparation, would be advantageous.

Associate Status

  • You will be employed as an associate of EqualEngineers.
  • Engagement will be the duration of one or more Skills Bootcamps, or part thereof.
  • Location and dates will be confirmed in advance.
  • Payment will be for delivery of sessions in line with the rate above, and subject to satisfactory reporting of data and feedback.
  • Reasonable travel expenses agreed in advance will also be paid.
