Title: Principal GNSS Engineer

Location: Cambridge, England (Onsite)


Overview:

FocalPoint is looking for a Principal GNSS Engineer who is passionate about technology and excited about the goals of the company. You will join the GNSS team and help lead the development of FocalPoint’s proprietary S-GNSS technology, while working closely with software engineers to build FocalPoint’s products. The role offers significant scope for professional development spanning the research, product and software engineering disciplines and mentorship of junior staff.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to our product development and R&D teams.
  • Help lead technical engagements and trialing with our customers.
  • Contribute to our S-GNSS technology and product roadmaps.
  • Direct and assist in the design, prototyping and testing of our S-GNSS technology.
  • Oversee and contribute to the enhancement of our software-defined GNSS receiver.
  • Act as a backlog owner for an agile team.
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineers within the company.
  • You may be required on occasion to use a variety of programming tools and languages as appropriate: e.g. C++, Python, MATLAB


Qualifications:

  • Relevant academic or industrial experience (e.g. leading the development of GNSS algorithms in industry)
  • In-depth knowledge of GNSS measurement engine signal processing
  • Strong programming experience in MATLAB or C++
  • Experience with low-level embedded software development and testing (DSP)
  • Experience in RTK and/or PPP and/or multi-constellation positioning.
  • Experience with multipath mitigation methods.
  • In-depth knowledge of the full GNSS signal-processing chain
  • Expertise in Kalman filters and other probabilistic estimation techniques
  • Knowledge of multi-sensor fusion techniques, including tight and deep coupling for GNSS-INS
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across the business.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives and drive business growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing business environments and overcome challenges with resilience and determination.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented. Team player with strong collaboration skills.
  • Proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.
