We are Trade Gear, we own several eCommerce websites selling a broad range of products - from internationally renowned brands to own brand products made in the UK, from industrial heaters & coolers, to line marking paint and from outdoor furniture, to diggers and dumpers
This role will suit someone with common sense, a focused attitude and the ability to spot growth opportunities.
This is a very varied role with a great opportunity to become a part of a successful business that has grown rapidly over the past 5 years.
We are the UK’s largest online HVAC retailer, the largest online line marking equipment retailer, and with our newest website aimed at the civils, utilities and construction sectors it is our aim to become number 1 in this sector too – can you help us get there?
About the Role
As a Commercial Manager, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Own the commercial aspects of several eCommerce websites, with a heavy focus on pricing, margins and merchandising of key categories.
- Working directly with Directors and Operations Managers to grow the business through existing channels, whilst exploring opportunities to expand into new ones.
- Working closely with the sales, customer service and content teams to ensure a streamlined end-to-end customer journey.
- Approaching work with a strong analytical mindset – undertaking comprehensive and measurable reviews and audits of the Trade Gear Ltd websites for continuous improvement.
- Develop strong relationships with our suppliers at all levels, Directors, Sales and Technical, building range sales and implementing promotions and marketing plans.
- Assist in new product selections, growth/stock forecasts and generating regular sales and marketing reports.
- Undertaking market research and competitor analysis in order to develop and implement growth strategies whilst maintaining our competitiveness.
- Understand, implement and review best UX/UI practices.
The Person
To be a successful Commercial Manager at Trade Gear, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
- We put our telephone number all over our websites as we encourage customers to call for advice and technical help in choosing the right kit for the job – so we need people that are confident in being customer facing and have good, positive communication skills – we want to encourage our customers to buy from us again and again.
- Experience of working in an eCommerce sales and/or digital marketing environment.
- High attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to compile and compare data in a readable format.
- Working knowledge of key platforms and software eg. Google Analytics, SEMRush, Moz, Microsoft Office (Excel).
- Understanding of SEO, web development and project management.
- The ability to multitask and prioritize workloads based on the needs of the business with an emphasis on driving growth.
- Processing a high volume of orders efficiently and with a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy.
- The ability to build a comprehensive knowledge of Trade Gear Ltd’s broad range of products which span a number of highly diverse markets and sectors.
- Be prepared to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in with sales (SOP & POP) and some CS too – it’s the best way to learn the business and understand the customer service issues and what people are actually looking for – this is a perfect opportunity to grow sales.

Further Information
- Start Date: Immediate Start
- Job Type: Full time, Permanent
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 09:00am – 17:30pm/08:30 – 17:00
- Annual Leave: 21 days plus bank holidays (rising to 26 days 1 day per full year worked)
- Bonus Scheme: after 6 Months based on % GM achievement.
