iO Associates have partnered with a global food manufacturer based in High Wycombe in their search for a Product Development Technologist.

As the Product Development Technologist you will be supporting the product development team in managing and creating product options from marketing briefs and you'll be give small design projects (usually flavour variations).

In this entry level role you will be getting involved with things like planning, implementing and reviewing product development trials at any scale, from bench work to full scale factory trials.

You will also be presenting samples to marketing and translating feedback into recipe and/or process developments. In addition to this you will be producing draft product costs for comparative purposes.

Crucially you will raise any technical or project related issues that might affect quality, cost or time of delivery with your line manager.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • University degree level qualification in Food Science/Technology
  • Understanding of ingredients, creative recipe development and bench scale techniques
  • Proven record of trial planning, execution and review
  • Confident in effectively delegating tasks to technicians, direct or indirect reports such that they are clear on the task, timings and quality standards required
  • Courage to challenge and confident to prioritise, and know when to ask for help in a timely manner
  • Creative approaches to problem solving
  • Food presentation skills
  • Basic understanding of health & safety requirements
  • Strong understanding of food legislation
  • Be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship


In return you will receive and salary up to £33,000 and it comes with a 5% bonus, Single cover medical insurance, Stakeholder pension - Min 3% EE/6% ER | Max 6% EE / 9% ER and Life Assurance x4.
