Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Procurement Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our dynamic team. As a Procurement SME, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance, strategic insights, and operational support to optimize our procurement processes and drive value across the organization. This role offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your extensive procurement knowledge, industry experience, and leadership skills to drive continuous improvement and excellence in procurement practices.


Responsibilities

  • Strategic Procurement Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership in procurement initiatives, including sourcing strategies, supplier management, contract negotiations, and cost optimization efforts. Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Process Optimization: Evaluate and enhance procurement processes, policies, and procedures to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and improve operational effectiveness. Identify opportunities for process automation, standardization, and best practice adoption.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors. Lead supplier performance evaluations, contract negotiations, and ongoing supplier development initiatives to ensure alignment with quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate procurement-related risks, including supply chain disruptions, compliance issues, and contractual risks. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to safeguard organizational interests and continuity of operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, legal, and compliance, to ensure alignment of procurement activities with broader business objectives. Serve as a trusted advisor and liaison between procurement and other functional areas.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the procurement function. Lead initiatives to enhance procurement capabilities, optimize systems and tools, and leverage technology solutions to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor procurement performance and track progress against goals. Prepare and present regular reports and dashboards to senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Procurement SME (third party management, spend, accounts payable, source to contract)
  • Data aware – this is all about getting data from source systems to the DBS refinery to qlik visualisation and additional predictive analytics
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement principles, best practices, and industry trends.
  • Strong negotiation skills and contract management experience. Proven track record of achieving cost savings, mitigating risks, and driving supplier performance improvements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, draw insights, and make data-driven recommendations.
