The Role: As a Senior Category Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in driving profitable sales and market share growth across a diverse portfolio, including gardening, pet, and bird products. Reporting directly to the Head of Category and Insight, you'll lead the charge in category management, making data-driven decisions that will shape the future of our client's offerings.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis & Insight: Leverage multiple data sources (Nielsen, Kantar, GfK, dunnhumby) to extract insights and provide actionable recommendations that align with both business goals and retailer needs.
  • Stakeholder Management: Develop and nurture relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, becoming the go-to expert for category range reviews.
  • Customer Champion: Work closely with internal teams to ensure optimal product range and activation in stores, boosting market share and in-store presence.
  • Presentation Skills: Craft and deliver compelling stories to retailers that expand distribution and secure listings for new products.
  • Detail-Oriented Reporting: Enhance reporting capabilities by tracking key performance indicators (EPOS performance, distribution, rate of sale, competitor activity, pricing) and delivering detailed analysis.



Key Skills & Experience:

  • Strategic Thinking: Demonstrate creativity and openness to new ways of driving business growth, with a focus on collaborative partnerships.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Proficient in analysing data from various sources and using it to inform strategic recommendations, particularly in pricing, pack size, and competitor benchmarking.
  • Project Management: Ability to juggle multiple projects and categories, delivering results within tight deadlines.
  • Space Planning: Experience with space planning tools and creating planograms that maximise sales and profitability.
  • FMCG/General Merchandise Expertise: A strong background in FMCG, General Merchandise, or retail sectors, with a passion for retail.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills and intermediate to advanced PowerPoint capabilities are essential.

  • Pressure Handling: Comfortable working under pressure, prioritising tasks, and meeting deadlines.

  • Collaborative Mindset: Works well in partnership with team members, with a strong understanding of their needs.
  • Confident Communication: Ability to influence and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.



Salary: £55,000 + £5K Car Allowance + Benefits
