Working with a local not for profit organisation I am looking to recruit a Finance Manager to join the team on a permanent basis. This role has come up due to internal movements and promotions – so shows there is room for progression and development within the organisation.


This role will be an integral and proactive part of the Finance team and have responsibility for leading the finance business partnering function and team in this wide-ranging and fast-paced role.


The successful Candidate will be ACCA / CIMA or ACA qualified and have a strong background in management accounting, but also have proven technical financial accounting skills, and a track record of being a hands-on and effective manager.


You will also need to have previous experience in a similar role with a not for profit or public sector service.


Duties of the role include:


  • Manage the Business Partnering team in providing comprehensive, high quality financial support and information to budget managers throughout the year, including during budget setting, the production of the monthly management accounts and quarterly forecasts, and financial year-end.
  • This will be a key leadership role within the finance team, assisting to the Head of Finance and CFO in providing an excellent Customer focused Finance Service
  • Oversee and manage the depreciation and deferred capital grant schedules.
  • Assist in the development of the annual budget and medium-term financial plan, including liaise with budget managers and the Senior/ Leadership Teams to ensure that plans effectively support the delivery of the strategic plan
  • Oversee the production of the draft monthly management accounts and quarterly forecast, ensuring that accurate and detailed monitoring mechanisms are in place for both income and expenditure so that variances can be highlighted and explained at an early stage, to enable appropriate action to be taken.
  • Support the Head of Finance in maintaining and completing a detailed financial model that records and reports ratios and metrics monthly, for onward reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Lead on the preparation of financial reporting requirements, both internal and external.
  • Lead on the preparation of the statutory financial statements and working papers, including being a key point of contact with External Audit throughout the entire year-end process.
  • Work with colleagues within and outside of Finance to continuously seek to make improvements to processes
  • Ensure that the Financial Regulations are being adhered to and that any significant changes are communicated to colleagues, as appropriate.
  • Deputise for the Head of Finance as required and represent the organisation to maintain and develop effective relationships with stakeholders.


To be successful in this role you will need to have strong management accounting and technical accounting knowledge as well as experience writing reports containing financial information for non-finance stakeholders – have the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
