Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Head of Investments at UCEA - Family Office Group located in Greater London. The role will involve overseeing investment management, implementing investment strategies, analyzing financial opportunities, and managing the overall investment portfolio of the group.


Private Equity / Growth Investment Background

Skill: Expertise in Private Equity and Growth Investments

Relevance: The candidate must come from a strong Private Equity or Growth Investment background, with direct experience leading and managing investment deals within this context. This excludes experience in early venture capital, wealth management, or fixed-income roles. Familiarity with the distinct dynamics, timelines, and capital structures of PE/Growth investments is essential for success in this role and aligns with the firm’s strategic objectives.


Deal Lifecycle Management

Skill: End-to-End Deal Management – Transaction Advisory/ Deal Advisory

Relevance: A Head of Investments must have deep experience across all deal stages—from initial diligence and valuation to structuring, execution, and exit strategy. This expertise ensures they can drive investments from beginning to end while optimizing value creation and mitigating risks. Familiarity with complete deal cycles also enables them to impart best practices to the junior team.


Fundraising and LP Relations

Skill: Fundraising and Investor Relations

Relevance: Experience in securing capital from investors is essential. This includes creating compelling pitches, managing investor expectations, and cultivating long-term relationships with investors. Their skill in this area will be pivotal in supporting fund growth and stability, as well as positioning the firm competitively in the market.


Sector Insight and Investment Agnosticism

Skill: Sector Knowledge and Adaptability

Relevance: While the role covers multiple sectors (tech, healthcare, real assets), the Head of Investments should have the flexibility to assess opportunities across various industries. A strong foundation in key sectors combined with an adaptable approach will help them make informed investment decisions while remaining agile to evolving market trends.

While it's unrealistic to expect expertise across all industries, we need an investment professional with strong business fundamentals and operational understanding. This person should:

  • Have a solid foundation in evaluating business models.
  • Understand what makes companies successful across different sectors.
  • Be able to identify key value drivers and investment opportunities.
  • Know when and how to leverage industry experts for technical analysis.


The ideal candidate would combine broad business acumen with the judgment to seek specialized expertise when needed for deeper technical assessments. This balanced approach ensures thorough investment evaluation while acknowledging that no single person can be an expert in every industry.

Technical Proficiency in Financial Modeling and Analysis

Skill: Advanced Financial Modeling and Analytical Skills

Relevance: High-level competency in financial modeling, valuation, and scenario analysis is essential for structuring deals and guiding investment decisions. The ability to create and interpret complex financial models will enable them to assess opportunities rigorously and pass on this expertise to the junior team.


Technical proficiency is crucial for effective decision-making and accurately assessing expected returns. The Head of Investments must have comprehensive understanding of:

  • Investment thesis development


The Head of Investments must be able to:

  • Thoroughly understand and explain investment analyses
  • Address detailed questions from potential investors

This expertise is essential for building credibility with co-investors and ensuring the entire investment team can effectively participate in deal discussions.

Skill: Risk Assessment and Due Diligence

Relevance: Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks during the diligence phase is fundamental for protecting investor capital. This includes market, financial, and operational risk assessments, which help create a balanced portfolio while securing promising returns.


Interpersonal and Communication Skills

Skill: Stakeholder Communication and Influence

Relevance: The ability to communicate complex investment strategies and decisions clearly to investors, the IC, and junior team members is critical. A skilled communicator will foster trust, inspire confidence, and effectively align all stakeholders with the firm’s goals.

Flexibility: The person needs to have a flexible mindset when it comes to solving problems, relationship building and someone that doesn’t just see things as black and white.
