UK, UK, United Kingdom Bradshaw Advisory Part time

About Bradshaw Advisory

Bradshaw Advisory helps clients navigate, influence and solve complex policy challenges by bringing together a team of genuine senior experts in economics, data, policy and public affairs.

If you want to shape new legislation, secure government funding, develop new policies and advise on serious advocacy campaigns, then this job is for you.

Our consultancy was born out of frustration with the high-volume, low-impact work that too many in our industry provide. We purposefully only take on a small number of clients at any one time to do the work we are good at. Working with world-leading clients across financial services, the built environment, infrastructure, technology and the environment, we deliver high-impact research reports and economic analysis.

We are a small firm with big ambitions. We continue to grow year on year, and growth brings opportunities for employees. We push back on boring corporate culture and like to have fun. We are a meritocracy and your efforts will be rewarded. You will be provided with autonomy and responsibility (whilst being fully supported) from day one.

All our employees work a four-day week to enjoy a three-day weekend, and we emphasise the importance of our people having a healthy work-life balance. All staff members receive generous annual leave allowance and bank holidays can be flexed. We provide a healthy budget to pursue learning opportunities.

Core responsibilities

  • Contributing to ‘think-tank style’ report development and delivery across clients in the public and private sector
  • Undertaking a wide range of quantitative and qualitative analyses, including data modelling (work that complies with the HMT Green Book, or that veers towards econometrics and data science)
  • Business case development for crucial, often high-value, projects for local and national government, ones that can have significant impact on society
  • Delivering consulting projects, including (at times) project management whilst building relationships with clients alongside a high-performing team
  • Informing decisions via data visualisation and analysis e.g in. Tableau, DataWrapper

Benefits

  • Generous annual leave - 27 days (34 days 5-day equivalent) plus bank holidays
  • Although we may hire at Consultant or Senior Consultant Level depending on experience, candidates can expect a salary of between £38,000 and £56,000 for 4-day working weeks (circa. 30 hours). This is the 5-day equivalent of £47,500 to £70,000.
  • High-end laptop of your choosing (including MacBook Pro)
  • Competitive pension offering
  • Flexible work and part-time options
  • UK-wide working (we have offices in London and Manchester but we are remote and hybrid friendly)
  • Private healthcare and employee assistance programme (EAP)
  • Spot discretionary bonuses for great work
  • Potential equity/shareholder options

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Undergraduate degree in economics or related subject at 2:1 (or above)
  • 3+ years of professional experience as an economist
  • Strong numerical ability
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive and can “drive things to be done”
  • When faced with an obstacle, you think creatively of potential solutions/options
  • Can form clear opinions and recommendations
  • Enjoys diverse work tasks
  • Curious and a life-long learner
  • Proficient with MS Excel
  • Wants to help a start-up grow, develop and win new work
  • Lighthearted and looks for the opportunity to have fun at work, where possible
