The Role


Responsible for the day to day running and development of the Learning & Development function, you will ensure the function is managed to the highest standard, through a hands-on approach, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to providing excellent service.


You will be instrumental in supporting the development and delivery of the L&D plan and a high performing L&D function.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Management and development of the L&D team to ensure it is high performing and adding value.
  • Developing and maintaining a robust L&D infrastructure, ensuring systems and processes are efficient and effective, to include the Learning Management System.
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to ensure fully supported from an L&D perspective, proactively identifying training gaps and developing effective training activities.
  • Working closely with HR to ensure alignment in supporting the people strategy and related processes, and with the management teams on operational requirements.
  • Maintaining strong relationships and timely and effective communications to ensure widespread awareness of L&D activities.
  • Creating and delivering a range of training using classroom, online and blended learning.
  • Coordinating refresher and statutory update training, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Overseeing and supporting the development and maintenance of learning materials and reference guides for end users, ensuring content is engaging, kept up-to-date and relevant.
  • Coordinating training sessions to include liaising and confirming details with session owners to ensure everything is in place.
  • Developing and maintaining robust methods for tracking, recording, and analysing all development activities.
  • Evaluating training activities; reporting on training feedback, effectiveness, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Developing the training that is offered to colleagues based on colleague feedback, business requirements and latest trends in learning and development.
  • Providing timely and accurate management information, statistics and reporting.
  • Managing expenditure within agreed budgets.
  • Other tasks and projects as required.


Key Competencies:


  • Successful track record as an L&D Manager, Training Manager, or similar role
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, customer focused and commercially aware.
  • Self-starter with a hands-on approach, impressive work ethic, and commitment to delivering results and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and passion for excellence
  • People focused with a flexible and collaborative approach to working with others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, engaging and influencing at all levels.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with technical and non-technical users
  • Proven track record in developing high quality training materials.
  • Excellent training delivery skills, with an ability to tailor methods to suit differing needs.
  • Multitasks, manages conflicting priorities, demanding deadlines and remains calm under pressure.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and IT Skills to include MS Office and Learning Management Systems.
