You’ll be joining a fast-paced, international team leading the delivery of technical solutions across underwriting and claims. Using SCOR’s extensive knowledge, you will support the development of the underlying rules and logic that reflect SCOR’s and SCOR clients risk appetite. You will also be involved in the development of the cutting edge, next generation of underwriting and claims technology solutions using predictive modelling and Gen AI


Roles & Responsibilities

The Automated Underwriting Manager - Europe has a broad remit encompassing – but not limited to – the work areas below:

  • Provide expert underwriting/claims expertise & knowledge to deliver and optimise each Velogica installation as a leading automated underwriting/claims solution in Europe
  • Design and maintain underwriting/claims rulesets for new UW & Claims system implementation
  • Ensure the configuration reflects our clients’ and SCOR’s risk appetite, optimises STP and uses behavioral science techniques to elicit optimal disclosure
  • Using data analytics, provide a continuous cycle of optimisation, innovation and improvement of the underwriting rules and journey
  • Strong project management skills and a working knowledge of project management methodologies
  • Regular communication with Velogica clients and the SCOR regional market teams using expert data analysis to provide an environment of curiosity, innovation and continuous evolution of our automated solutions


Ruleset design & maintenance

  • Work with the SCOR knowledge teams to translate the SCOR risk appetite into robust underwriting rules that also meet end-customer requirements for simplicity of understanding
  • Support the European new business development initiatives
  • Using data analytics to provide expert insight into all areas of automated underwriting


Local ruleset customisation

  • Gain in-depth understanding of underwriting/claims practices in local markets in Europe
  • Arrange translation of underwriting rules into local languages
  • Maintain close working relationship with the SCOR local market teams and clients


Key stakeholder reporting

  • Provide relevant and regular automated underwriting and claims updates to key stakeholders internally and externally

Required skills & experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience in medical and non-medical underwriting/claims engines for insurance in Europe
  • Experience in auto underwriting/claims with configuration on logic/algorithms and a good understanding of the reinsurance service model
  • Prior experience in designing interactive underwriting/claims questions for automated underwriting/claims engines and in development of new and advanced underwriting/claims systems
  • Project management experience on underwriting/claims solutions
  • French proficiency is an advantage
