About the role
Reporting to an Operations Director, this role is responsible for delivering excellent operational performance within the outlined region in line with the overall operational strategy. Ensuring effective implementation and embedment of business initiatives, managing operational risk, and driving business performance levels across the key metrics.
Championing engagement, development and effective succession planning within their teams and supporting the Operations Director to achieve a consistent and high-quality service across the entire division. The role will oversee 45-60 nurseries with direct reports to support.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of the overall operational strategy through effective leadership within the agreed region, ensuring clear strategic alignment with the operational objectives outlined by the Operations Director.
- Developing and delivering operational strategies to drive occupancy and EBITDA performance across the region.
- Actively seek out opportunities to drive improvement across the region, driving efficiencies and overall performance across the key business metrics.
- Build strong and effective relationships with the Operations Director, ensuring key updates are provided and proactively engaging with the required approval processes.
- Overall responsibility for delivering excellence across Quality and Health and Safety.
- Direct responsibility for coaching and leading Area Directors to achieve high levels of performance, managing poor performance effectively and building a network of succession.
- Coaching and developing Areas Directors to deliver high quality across the region and provide children with the best start in life.
- Champion effective communication across the region, to ensure key information is delivered and create opportunities for two-way feedback.
- Custodian of culture, role modelling behaviours and ensuring activity and decisions are aligned to the core values and challenging behaviours that are not aligned.
- Lead on engagement related activities, including annual surveys, actions plans and initiatives for the region to continually improve team engagement and retention.
- Build effective relationships with key stakeholders.
Key skills and experience
- A proven Senior Operator, adept in leading Operational teams in a multi-site business.
- Able to deliver Operational performance aligned to agreed Operational strategy.
- Commercial awareness, understanding of budgets and accounts and how to maximise performance.
- An effective leader, creating an environment where their team can thrive.
- Analytical and comfortable with interpreting data to spot trends and identify opportunities.
- Process & service orientated; continually identifying ways to improve efficiency and employee experience.
- Able to oversee multiple, complex activities and prioritise / delegate effectively.
- Collaborative and able to act as a key member of the Operational team, building strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external).
- Identify challenges and implement solutions.
- Externally curious, aware of external best practice.
