Working within a skilled team of R&D and sequencing specialist Scientists, developing a new class of diagnostic platform based on NGS technology. The platform utilises elegant, sample-to-answer semiconductor technology to enhance user experience and provide a more efficacious clinical experience.


Core duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Supporting technology development through creation of molecular biology and biochemistry modules, and transfer to cartridge-based workflows
  • NGS library and sample preparation, compatible with cartridge-based automation
  • Design and execution of lab experiments in collaboration with more senior members of the R&S and Sequencing teams
  • Creating detailed experimental plans, analysing data and forming conclusions to inform the next steps in a study
  • Troubleshooting issues as they arise and identify best practice solutions alongside the team leader
  • Support the integration of assay chemistries into the automated engineering modules
  • Managing documentation in accordance with ISO 13485 quality standards
  • Take an active role in resolving technical issues that arise during experiments and work with independence to suggest effective work-arounds


Your background:


  • BSc or equivalent in a Biological discipline along with some laboratory based industry experience
  • Strong proficiency with standard molecular techniques such as: PCR (various types), agarose/gel electrophoresis, DNA/RNA extraction, magnetic bead-based methods, NGS workflows, sample and library preparation
  • Background in modifying standard procedures for bespoke applications
  • Experienced in developing NGS workflows
  • Able to generate high-quality data and interrogate experimental data output
  • It would be beneficial to have an appreciation of integration of assay chemistry into automation platforms
  • Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment, at pace and with challenging timelines
