Job Description

Your future team:

The successful Project Engineer will be joining Assystem working within our Defence Business Unit, working initially on an embedded basis with our Plymouth based client. We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Project Engineer to support various work packages for site preparation ahead of A class maintenance.

In this role, you will work closely with the client-side Project Manager and the engineering governance team within a larger programme. You will be the primary point of contact for managing engineering issues with contractors, escalating them when necessary.

Your missions:

Chairing contractor technical progress meetings.

Reporting on scope changes and programme impacts due to engineering challenges to the Project Manager.

Answering and managing responses to Technical Queries (TQs), often involving coordination with the wider client site Technical and Design Authority community.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

Demonstrable experience working on engineering and construction contracts. Candidates with extensive experience will be able to operate more independently and potentially manage multiple work packages.

Awareness of NEC contracting models or similar frameworks where change management is crucial.

Self-motivated with excellent communication skills.

Broad understanding of all engineering disciplines.

Experience working in the nuclear sector or on major infrastructure projects.

Degree qualified in a core engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Structural).

Additional Information

Security clearance:

Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.

Mobility:

The role is remote but there would an expectation to be on site at Devonport 3 to 4 days a month
