Role: Engineering Sales Estimator

Reports to: Project Director

Direct Reports: 0

Primary Purpose: Leading a team of estimators, performing detailed estimations, and managing commercial aspects of our projects. To quote for new sales enquiries for complex machined components and sheet metal as part of the sales team goal to achieve the annual sales budget.



Key Responsibilities


  • Responsible for the planning and execution of projects, including planning, designing, executing and monitoring every aspect of specific projects.
  • Develop and maintain best practices for estimation processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Handle commercial management tasks including cost analysis & budgeting.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their requirements, provide accurate quotes, and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scopes and financial objectives.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on project estimations, budgets, and financial performance to senior management.
  • Ensure all estimation activities comply with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

Person Specification


Skills/ Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimation within the engineering sector, with at least 3 years exposure to project management roles
  • HND/Degree in Engineering, or a related field (Experience considered)
  • Professional certifications in estimation or project management Agile/ Prince 2 would be advantageous.
  • Exceptional analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and tools.
  • In-depth understanding of precision engineering processes and materials.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience with contract management
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
