What you’ll be doing:

  • Planning and supervising commissioning activities
  • Overseeing Electrical Rip outs for the weapons section
  • Reviewing and authoring test documentation in relation to the weapons test section
  • Reviewing and planning training and development of electrical engineers within the section
  • Deputising for the weapons Managers in their absence and act as temporary lead, covering all weapons section meeting
  • Be a signing member of the weapons test group
  • Liaising with other test departments to ensure safe control of work

Your skills and experiences:

  • Good knowledge of either Sonar, Navigation, Command Systems or external communications systems from either commissioning or maintaining experience
  • Good understanding of installations and final installation inspection process of weapons electrical systems
  • Ideally experience of spice, SAP or P6
  • Good understanding and experience of Safe Systems of Work
  • Experience of reviewing electrical and weapons technical documentation and drawings
  • Previous Team leader / Supervisory experience
  • Ideally have a min of HNC in an Electrical Engineering subject

The Commissioning Engineering team:

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the administration, technical control & development of personnel in consistently achieving the following; Departmental goals, Performance metrics expectations, Milestones in accordance with the Contract Delivery Programme. You will have an opportunity to lead & manage a team of Engineers within the Weapons Test Section, coordinating input of information to the team from all engineering functions. You will be working on an advanced weapons equipment, requiring a high specialist focus. This role will provide you with an opportunity to take the first step into line management and progress within the business. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
