Planning Manager

Full-time on-site position


Major Recruitment is working alongside a British food manufacturer based in Norfolk. This business offers both manufacturing and co-packing for fresh and frozen fruit ingredients including IQF, purees and fresh fruit.


As a Planning Manager, you will be responsible for stock control and management throughout the business. You will be pivotal to successful and effective production planning, with keen oversight and responsibility for the external customer measure of delivery on time and in full.


Key Responsibilities of a Planning Manager


  • Manage the materials and information flow through the business from demand to supply
  • Stock ownership – raw materials, packaging, and consumables, both on-site and on contract
  • Able to translate a Sales forecast into resource requirements by department
  • Assess and choose potential options for production
  • Self-assess own performance and produce daily/weekly reports
  • Review and adjust the plan as a live document as business needs change
  • Line management of Customer Service & Planning Co-Ordinator(s)
  • Work with Customers' supply chain functions to add value and improve service offerings.
  • Develop and actively promote a positive Health & Safety culture


Skills required to be a successful Planning Manager


  • Previous planning experience working within a food manufacturing setting.
  • High-level Excel skills with the ability to manipulate and translate data into meaningful and actionable insights.
  • Logistics and storage experience
  • Familiar with MRP Data handling
  • Understanding of Operational cost-drivers
  • Meeting facilitation & presentation skills
  • B2B customer service experience at the supervisory or management level
  • Exceptional multitasking skills, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
