Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Project Manager for an initial 18 month contract on a rate of £450-£550/day (Outside IR35). This role can be carried out remotely and on-site – likely a combination of both.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the supplier procurement and onboarding process – leading where required
- Take full responsibility for the definition, approach, facilitation and satisfactory completion of the project.
- Plan the project with the supplier and the project team.
- Manage the relationship with the supplier, financial profiling and monitoring, and the day-to-day project financials and contract management.
- Ensure essential project phase-level processes and documents are in place, including, but not limited to a project plan, PID, RAID log, Benefits tracker, Highlight and Project Board reports.
- Inform and provide assurance to the Product Owner, SRO and Project Board on the progress of the project.
- Develop action plans and recommendations to address project issues when they arise and work with the Product Owner and Project Team to implement the actions agreed by the Project Board.
- On a monthly basis, produce detailed project management information, including but not limited to, implementation plan, financial (spend/forecast) reports, Project Board updates, and risks.
- Identify and map dependencies, assumptions and potential issues arising and ensure that project delivery is scheduled to manage the available capacity of people. Propose solutions and options for management consideration.
- Manage the project through the assessment process working with the assessment team, the supplier and other staff.
- Share knowledge with employees on good practice in project management. Work with the PMO as required.
- Ensure quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure.
- Manage the change control procedure and ensure that project deliverables are completed within agreed cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off.
- Provide effective leadership to the project team.
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrating an ability to collaborate across teams and functions to achieve goals.
- Demonstrating experience in managing suppliers/contracts and transitioning systems to continuous improvement/BAU.
- Must have proven experience in successfully managing a project through all stages of the Digital Scotland Service Standard process – Discovery, Alpha and Beta.
- Proven experience in managing substantial budgets and sizable project teams.
- Putting plans and resources in place to achieve results.
- Demonstrating an ability to engage with stakeholders at different levels across an organisation and to adjust your approach to fit the requirements of your audience.
- Demonstrating a history of delivering successful programmes and projects with a value over £1.5m through the complete project lifecycle.
- Demonstrating an ability to develop people by supporting colleagues and team members to develop their skills.
- Ability to hit the ground running, a self-starter.
- Ability to build excellent rapport with internal project teams and maintain and building lasting relationships with suppliers.
- A solid understanding of the importance of the customer experience and user journeys and a knowledge and understanding of the Government Digital Standards.
- Familiarity with website accessibility and usability standards and guidelines.
- Experience and knowledge of Content Management Systems, Project planning tools, such as Ms Project, and development tools such as JIRA.
- Ability to take on responsibility and use initiative to prioritise and work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Communicates effectively, both formally and informally at all management levels.
- Demonstrates leadership and facilitates collaboration between stakeholders who have diverse objectives.
- Takes all requirements into account when making proposals.
- Agile software development and running projects under PRINCE2 methodologies.
- Analyses requirements and advises on scope and options for continuous operational improvement.
- Demonstrates creativity, innovation and ethical thinking in applying solutions for the benefit of the customer/stakeholder.
- Adept at building strong and trusted relationships with senior managers, project teams and specialists.
- Prince2 accredited
Desirable Skills:
- Recognised Programme Management qualification (e.g. Managing Successful Programmes)
- Professional membership of a recognised Programme or Project management institute or organisation
