Our household-name client, with its flagship HO based in Cheshire, is a UK market leader across its specialist Distribution sector markets. The Board is now focused on pursuing an accelerated Acquisition "buy & build" growth strategy to further strengthen the Group's dominant market position.

Working within a high profile Group Project Finance team which reports directly to the Group CFO (ex Big 4 CF Partner), you will support the Head of M&A to gain hands-on direct exposure to all stages of the Deal cycle. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working on a wide range of buy-side potential target Acquisitions from medium-larger sized businesses through to smaller independent companies in this highly fragmented UK market.
  • Market research and compiling target company information, including financial appraisal and business performance analysis.
  • Direct approach to strong potential acquisition targets followed up with face to face meetings with business owners once initial 2-way potential interest has been confirmed.
  • Preparing transaction documentation
  • Due Diligence support.
  • Involvement in deal negotiation through to successful completion.
  • In addition to these ongoing buy-side Acquisition deals, you will also be involved in other key Group Strategic Projects, including investment appraisals for Infrastructure developments, appraisal/analysis of a wide range of new business initiatives and potential market growth opportunities.

Ideal candidate profile:

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CFA (c 1-4 years PQE) with successful Corporate Finance experience in an Accountancy or Independent CF firm/boutique and keen now to make the career step into Industry/Commerce.
  • Personal attributes are key - highly professional and able to liaise effectively across the full range of internal and external stakeholders, strong communicator, technically sound, strong excel skills, natural commercial acumen/business flair, strong negotiation and influencing skills, self-starter with strong initiative/drive while also being a strong team player.
  • This is a flexible hybrid role, likely c 2-3 days/wk maximum based at the Cheshire HO. You must have a full driving licence to engage directly, including occasional face to face contact, with business owners on Deal transactions across the UK.

The Package:

Our client offers a highly competitive starting salary range between £55k-£70k (DOE) + Car allowance + good Bonus level + comprehensive Benefits.
