UK Payroll Specialist

12 MONTH CONTRACT

Primary Location - Stoneywood, Aberdeen


Job Description Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for executing multiple Payroll processes. Develop an in-depth understanding of Payroll & Benefits systems, processes, and legislative rules. This role requires emphasis on data integrity and analysis to support key HR decisions while providing coverage and support as needed. Identify and resolve operational issues and support process improvement. Promote “Best in Class” service while developing effective relationships and working cross functionally with internal teams and suppliers.

In this role, you will be responsible for executing on multiple UK Payroll Processes, developing an in-depth understanding of the UK Payroll systems and legislative rules. You will identify and resolve operational issues and support process improvement.


As an UK Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for various processes within the below scope, to ensure smooth payroll operations for ca. 5,000 employees within 14 legal entities:

  1. Completing various payroll input - ad hoc payments and deductions
  2. Checking of master data changes in Workday and ensuring successful data flow into payroll systems (HRX, SAP)
  3. Processing new hires and leavers information
  4. Processing and validating payroll benefits changes
  5. Calculating and processing statutory payments
  6. Calculating and processing holiday pay
  7. Processing various notifications from HMRC
  8. Processing earnings arrestment’s,
  9. Raising 3rd party payments
  10. Reconciling PAYE liabilities
  11. Handling internal and external queries (employees, HR, Finance, External vendors, Government bodies)
  12. Participating in internal, external payroll and benefits audits, preparation of required reporting & associated statistics
  13. Reporting to the UK Payroll Manager based in Aberdeen, UK.

To be successful in this role you will:

  1. Have proven work experience in UK Payroll
  2. Have good working knowledge of UK HMRC legislation
  3. Have the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines
  4. Have working experience of automated and integrated payroll systems, particularly knowledge of SAP and Workday
  5. Have excellent organizational skills
