IT Support Administrator

Our IT Support Administrator works closely with the Group IT Manager, managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure. This role ensures the smooth operation of computer systems, networks, and servers, acting as the first point of contact for all group IT queries—from system security concerns to equipment sourcing and configuration for new starters. We aim to provide internal solutions that fit perfectly, ensuring our team has the right tools to deliver their best work. Regular reporting for quality and project management support is required, along with ongoing written, verbal, and in-person communication to resolve IT support issues.


Responsibilities

Customer Support

  • Act as the first point of contact for all internal group IT queries, whether via phone, email, or in person.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Conduct training sessions for users on new systems and technologies.
  • Create user guides and processes for systems and technologies.
  • Support the People department by preparing new equipment for new employees as part of the induction process.
  • Assist the People department in managing returning equipment from leavers during the exit process.
  • Provide advice to colleagues on network security and best computer usage practices.
  • Update the SLA tracker/log with key information such as time to respond, duration open, time closed, risk level, priority, and any ongoing requirements.


Server and System Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance and availability.
  • Perform regular system updates and patches.


Network Administration

  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Install, configure, and monitor wireless network systems.
  • Maintain network security measures, including firewalls and VPNs.
  • Administer network security for departments, including system firewalls, antivirus, group policy, and email security.


Security and Compliance

  • Maintain IT security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular security audits.


Backup and Disaster Recovery

  • Manage backup strategies to ensure data integrity.
  • Perform regular backups and test disaster recovery plans.
  • Restore data and systems in the event of hardware or software failures.


Additional Projects/Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for bespoke projects to support the IT Manager.
  • Follow and maintain internal processes belonging to the IT department.
  • Contribute to internal processes that affect the IT team.
  • Ensure sufficient team coverage during workshops or annual leave, completing full handovers of technical queries and communicating who is covering during any absence.
  • Stay up to date with changes in the IT industry and the technology market.



Requirements / Qualifications

  • Passion and enthusiasm for the technology industry and our role in it.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in working with servers, networks, computers, and peripherals.
  • Extensive knowledge of system security and procedures for protecting organizational data from intrusion or corruption.
  • Strong communication and customer support skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of hardware and software configuration.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage work schedules with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, creative, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in the Smart Buildings Industry is advantageous but not essential.
