The Role

The Risk Manager is responsible for supporting an effective non-financial risk management program through maintaining continuous risk oversight for MGG and facilitate the implementation of group-wide non-financial risk framework.

In addition, the individual will be responsible for Risk & Control Self-Assessments ( RCSAs) review and evaluation, support deep dive and ad-hoc activities within the Risk Management function. This role requires close liaison with business and corporate units at all levels across M&G and M&G Risk Functions in the UK and International offices.

The individual will report into the Head of Non-Financial Risk, Asset Management.

Risk Oversight
  • Be a trusted business partner to work closely with business and corporate units to apply enterprise-wide risk management tools to help identify, assess, report, monitor and control risk.
  • Review events and Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), notifiable events, issues etc. to identify possible thematic risks/ issues and provide recommendations to address control weaknesses, monitor the implementation progress of the enhanced controls.
  • Review the roll out of new products/ services/ markets as well as insourced/ outsourced activities and provide advice on risk management matters.
  • Participate in ad-hoc reviews and regulatory / supervisory examinations where required.
  • Close corporation with wider risk teams and risk functions in international offices to promote "outreach" to business and corporate units.

Knowledge/Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in financial services.
  • Working knowledge of asset management and financial products.
  • Working knowledge of end-to-end risk and control frameworks for asset management businesses.
  • Excellent communications skills (written / verbal) at all organisational levels.
  • Stakeholder management at all levels.
  • Results/task orientated with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise effectively and resolve conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and autonomously as well as manage across all geographies.
  • High level of computer literacy (specifically Excel and PowerPoint). Familiarity with GRC tools is preferred.
