Job Title: Senior Power Electronics Engineer

Location: Chelmsford (Hybrid)

Salary: Up to £65,000 + Package


What You’ll Do:

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead Innovative Design: Develop and design AC & DC power generation and distribution systems, including system sizing, protection, and control. You’ll specify and create advanced power supplies and converters that meet rigorous standards.
  • Motor Drives and Control Systems: Design motor drives and control systems, ensuring high precision and reliability in critical applications.
  • Manage EMC Compliance: Oversee Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) management and verification, working with EMC test houses and supporting installations.
  • Specify Bespoke Hardware: Work on the specification and integration of bespoke procured hardware, ensuring it meets project requirements and performance standards.
  • Verify and Test Designs: Use simulation, analysis, and testing to verify design performance. You’ll also support EMC testing and collaborate with related engineering disciplines.
  • Document and Communicate: Generate detailed design documentation and technical reports, ensuring all project aspects are clearly communicated.


What You Bring:

  • Technical Expertise: A degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field, with experience in electronic design for volume production.
  • Safety and Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with Electrical Safety Standards and EMC qualifications, particularly in high-safety environments.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Experience in design proving, integration, and defect resolution, with a focus on high power/high voltage equipment.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
