About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, dynamic Head of Change Management to join our Strategic Portfolio Office (SPO) at Kingston University. This pivotal leadership role will develop and implement a university-wide change management framework to drive strategic improvements and support the delivery of our Town House Strategy. As a “change champion,” you will ensure that our change initiatives are embraced, embedded, and impactful, aligning with both the operational and cultural goals of the University.
As Head of Change Management, you will create and refine a comprehensive change management methodology, working with various departments to ensure consistency, transparency, and engagement at every stage. Your expertise will help shape and drive organizational change that not only meets strategic objectives but also fosters an inclusive, collaborative culture. You will lead a dedicated team of Change Managers and work closely with internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor to develop meaningful, university-wide change initiatives that positively impact staff and students.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Change Management Framework: Lead the creation, application, and continuous improvement of a change management strategy, framework, and toolkit aligned with the University’s project management methodology.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships across departments to support effective change initiatives and work closely with the Communications team to develop narratives that foster staff and student engagement.
- Impact Assessments and Portfolio Oversight: Conduct change impact assessments and oversee a consolidated view of strategic change activities to ensure optimal implementation and readiness across the University.
- Change Initiative Monitoring: Track and report progress on change activities to senior stakeholders, including the Senior Leadership Team and Strategic Leadership Group.
- Team Leadership and Administration: Lead and support Change Managers and the SPO Administrator, ensuring effective processes within the SPO, including procurement and invoicing.
About You
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A degree or equivalent relevant experience in a related field.
- Certification in Change Management (e.g., APMG Practitioner in Change Management).
- Proven experience leading strategic change initiatives, preferably within higher education or similarly large organizations.
- Strong skills in stakeholder management, with a talent for building trust and effectively influencing outcomes at various levels.
- Excellent communication abilities to lead organization-wide campaigns and communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- A proactive and solution-oriented approach to managing change and driving process improvements.
- Resilience, flexibility, and enthusiasm for driving impactful change that benefits both the University and its diverse community.
