Responsibilities:


  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and communicate the organisation’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives. Lead the development and execution of the company’s strategic plan.
  • Operational Management: Oversee all day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability. Establish and monitor performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Financial Management: Manage the organisation’s financial resources, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Ensure sound financial practices and responsible resource allocation.

  • Risk Management: Identify and assess business risks and develop strategies for risk mitigation. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain quality standards and best practices in all aspects of the organization’s operations. Monitor and improve product or service quality.
  • Corporate Governance: Ensure adherence to corporate governance principles and ethical standards. Uphold the highest standards of integrity and corporate social responsibility.
  • Innovation and Technology: Encourage and support innovation throughout the organisation. Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Communication and Reporting: Report regularly to the Board of Directors or company ownership on organisational performance, achievements, and challenges. Communicate the company’s progress and direction to internal and external stakeholders.


Your Experience:


  • Proven Leadership: Successful and experienced Managing Director / General Manager with a proven track record in a senior leadership role within a manufacturing environment, responsible for achieving sales and profit growth in a manufacturing SME
  • Operational Management: Experience managing business operations with a turnover of at least £20 million, with strong financial acumen in budgeting, forecasting, and financial management
  • Strategic Planning: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic growth plans, and lead/develop sales and marketing strategies, including new product introduction and market development
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: A data-driven approach to developing and implementing the right suite of KPIs to enable effective decision-making
  • People Leadership: Exceptional experience in leading, developing, and coaching people and teams, with a strong drive to achieve results through developing and empowering people
  • Continuous Improvement: Expertise in business change and the successful implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial acumen with financial awareness of managing multiple P&Ls
  • Independent Worker: Ability to work through own initiative without a large corporate support structure
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities, with the ability to create a positive and high-performance working culture
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving capabilities and a results-oriented mindset


Our client is an established manufacturing organisation supplying high-performance products into the construction sector.


They have an extensive product range which are designed and manufactured in a modern facility in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The site was opened in 2024 having received in excess of £6m investment in capital making this the most advanced manufacturing facility in its sector in the UK.
