Role: Deputy Business Manager
The overall role of the DBM is to support the Business Manager or Store Manager in overseeing the store's operations, sales and profitability, and day to day operations of the counter. The DBM ensures that the counter delivers targets and KPI’s set by both the brand and store group by ensuring compliance with all operational standards. The Deputy Business Manager is instrumental in driving, motivating, and managing the team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting the Business Manager: Support the Business Manager in driving the day to day performance of the counter, maximize daily/weekly/monthly and yearly sales; set goals and objectives, aide in sales strategies, assist with employee relations and performance management;
• Sales and Customer Service: Drive sales growth, ensuring excellent customer service, maintain high customer satisfaction levels, analyze trading patterns, KPI’s, sales figures to identify business opportunities, and identify granular opportunities in store to grow the business and the client base;
• Team Management: Own the staff scheduling and holiday requests within deadlines set, supervise, coach, and develop team as needed;
• Operations and Logistics: Oversee store operations including stock management, visual merchandising, and health and safety;
• Performance Analysis: Analyze sales data, identify trends, and implement actions to best improve performance, consistently lead by example in executing first class customer service;
• Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and legal requirements;
• Deputizing for the Business Manager: Acting as the primary point of contact for the staff in the Business Manager's absence;
• Reporting and Analysis: Provide reports as needed to the Business Manager and other stakeholders on sales, customer service, and operational performance, ensure all admin tasks are completed within set deadlines;
• Brand Representation: Ensure staff adherence to company policies, grooming/styling, and representation, maintain impeccable visual merchandising standards, counter cleanliness, and hygiene standards;
• Communication: Ensure all customer inquiries have been addressed; ensure internal and external communication is on brand and brings positive awareness; consistently provide feedback and coaching to the team ensuring a transparent and positive work culture;
Required qualities:
• Strong Leadership Skills: proven ability to lead, motivate, inspire, and manage a team
• Excellent Communication Skills: effective and constructive communication, written and verbal
• Analytical and Problem Solving Skills: ability to analyze sales data, identify trends, and implement solutions
• Strong understanding of retail operations, sales, and profitability, especially in the Beauty Industry
• A customer focused and passionate approach to delivering service
• A minimum of 1 year past experience as a retail assistant manager or deputy business manager
• A minimum of 3 years working in a fast paced retail environment, especially a department store
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth
• Excellent relationship building with stakeholders, colleagues, and external partners
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, priorities, and deadlines
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and maintain excellent attention to detail
• Resilience and Emotional Intelligence: Ability to handle pressure, remain calm, and maintain a positive attitude
• Understanding of the retail industry, including trends, challenges, and opportunities
• Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively, oversee schedules, and pivot as needed
