Job Description

We’re recruiting for a Senior Strategy Manager to join us. The role of a Senior Strategy Manager is crucial in supporting the Head of Retail Strategy with the development and execution of the Retail strategy. This position involves a high level of responsibility, including deputizing for the Head of Retail Strategy, managing senior stakeholder relationships, and leading the divisions most complex / scaled strategic engagements.

The role holder will be instrumental in managing the Retail OKR/QBR process, including reporting to the Group CEO, and aiding business areas in defining and monitoring their OKRs. They will also keep a pulse on industry trends and competitor dynamics, synthesizing this information for the Retail Exec.

Furthermore, the Senior Strategy Manager will foster best practice collaboration and spearhead pan-Retail initiatives, while serving as a leader to the Business Owner community. This role is not just about strategy development but also about ensuring effective execution and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence across the Retail division.

What you'll be doing:

  • Driving the strategic planning process by developing Retail board papers, reports, presentations and supporting material in accordance with Group planning guidelines, coordinating Retail Quartlerly Business Reviews and supporting MDs in the development of business area strategies
  • Owning and solving highly complex strategic analysis by, conducting and delivering quantitative / qualitative analysis (including customer research and insight) and synthesising findings into strategic recommendations
  • Facilitating and coordinating strategic workshops with relevant senior stakeholder and decision makers
  • Overseeing the conduct competitor and market analysis to inform the Retail strategy and business area strategies - leading on the synthesis of findings to Retail leadership
  • Overseeing the development of the UK FS landscape map
  • Supporting the Head of Strategy with adhoc requests from the CEO and Exec team (E.g. CFO, MDs, CTO), such as performing competitor analysis, market sizing, focussed research
  • Supporting the definition, and development of a strategy and plan to ensure business development activities are delivered in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Related academic qualifications, ideally in business / management / economics or equivalent
  • Relevant strategic / management consulting experience with a focus on Financial Services (markets such as Pensions, Savings, Retirement, Protection and Mortgages are preferable).
  • Strategic planning processes and approaches
  • Financial modelling
  • Strong research and analytical skills to derive relevant insights
  • Strong written and oral communication (incl. high proficiency in PowerPoint) – to clearly articulate and develop compelling messaging and analysis to engage senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to build relationships, make connections and interact effectively with both senior leaders and divisional colleagues, and challenge stakeholders where necessary
  • Foundational financial modelling ability (e.g. creating simple market sizing and forecasting)
  • Customer consciousness and awareness
  • Management of small team
