SAP Applications Specialist

Location: Worksop, near Nottingham

As a SAP professional are you someone who wants to help evolve how the construction industry uses SAP solutions? Then we want you at Laing O'Rourke Construction.

As part of Laing O'Rourke's transformation, we need candidates like you to help with our journey. The Job role will be based at our Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction, the most advanced concrete manufacturing facility in Europe.

Are you an experienced and motivated SAP professional? Then we need you to work with our internal SAP team. This includes support for offshore development on enhancements and maintenance of Laing O'Rourke SAP solutions. Utilise your expertise in SAP modules, technical ability, and top communication skills to bring together onshore and offshore teams.

What are you required to do in this role?

  • Collaborating with business users to gather and analyse business requirements, translating them into system specifications and solutions
  • Collaborating with the internal SAP team and external offshore resources to identify best solutions and document technical specifications
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, functional teams, and technical development teams to ensure alignment and understanding of project goals
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of existing SAP systems, processes, and technologies to identify opportunities for optimisation and improvement
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including functional and technical specifications, process diagrams, and user guides
  • Collaborate with developers and technical resources offshore to ensure accurate and timely delivery of solutions, while providing guidance and support when needed
  • Assist in the testing and validation of SAP system changes, enhancements, and configurations to ensure adherence to business requirements and functional specifications
  • Liaising with the internal team in contributing to organising and managing workload resources required to deliver IT services for business demands

Essential skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of best practices in SAP
  • Demonstrable SAP experience using modules: SD, MM, PP, PS and FI/CO
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering collaboration and clear understanding

Desirable skills and experience:

  • An understanding of SAP modules: WM, QM, PM, DMS, EPPM and CATS
  • Experience using SAP in a manufacturing environment.
