Maintenance Assistant

Location: Fulwood Hall Hospital, Preston

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Full-time

Summary:

Fulwood Hall Hospital was opened as a purpose built facility in 1986. In 2009 the hospital completed a £9m pound investment to refurbish and expand the site, making it the largest independent hospital in Lancashire and one of the largest in the north of England.

The hospital has six consulting rooms supported by a fully equipped outpatient treatment room, a pre-assessment unit for screening and assessing patients prior to surgery as well as modern imaging facilities and a brand new physio and sports therapy department including gymnasium.

The role:

We currently have a great opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Fulwood Hall Hospital, based in Preston. You will assist with maintainingageing of building, general maintenance around 3 sites. Flexible days in accordance with the needs of the service. Working alongside the hospital engineer to maintain, repair and service all hospital equipment and facilities to a high standard.

This is a varied role and tasks included, but not an exhaustive list, will be:

  • Responding to departmental maintenance requests in all areas of the hospital in a timely manner
  • Managing maintenance folder to log, plan and complete job requests in a timely manner
  • Proactively identify areas and items in need of repair in a timely manner
  • Basic plumbing tasks: repair baths, showers, sinks and toilets, fix minor leaks and unblock sinks, fixing radiators
  • Basic carpentry jobs including replacing door locks, hanging shelves and pictures.
  • Changing light bulbs and minor electrical work
  • Basic decorating jobs: touching up paintwork, filing wall defects
  • Moving of furniture and equipment

Required Skills & Experience:

  • General maintenance knowledge / painter and decorator experience
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety procedures and best practice
  • Good communication skills
  • Confident team player
  • Clean driving license
  • Use of a car
