The Role

The Head of Business Management is a role responsible for overseeing the entire bid management process at CAE Technology Services. This position involves making strategic decisions on which business opportunities to pursue, ensuring that all bids are competitive, compliant, and aligned with the company's long-term goals. You will lead a team of bid professionals and work closely with cross-functional teams to produce winning proposals that meet client needs and drive business growth.


**Please note, this is a Hybrid role of 3 days in the office (Hemel Hempstead) and 2 days working from home**


What you will be doing?


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Opportunity Management:

  • Identify, assess, and prioritize business opportunities based on strategic importance, potential revenue, and alignment with company objectives.
  • Lead the decision-making process on which bids to pursue, ensuring the focus is on high-value and strategically important opportunities.

Bid Management Leadership:

  • Oversee the entire bid lifecycle, from initial qualification through to submission and contract award.
  • Develop and implement best practices, processes, and tools for effective bid management, ensuring that all proposals are high quality, competitive, and aligned with client requirements.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of bid managers and coordinators, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the team is effectively resourced and organized to handle multiple bids simultaneously while maintaining high standards.


Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, technical experts, and other key stakeholders to gather the necessary information and insights for bids.
  • Ensure that all bid submissions reflect a comprehensive and coherent solution that meets the client's needs and stands out against the competition.


Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Ensure all bid submissions are fully compliant with client requirements and company standards, including legal, financial, and technical specifications.
  • Implement rigorous quality control processes to ensure accuracy and professionalism in all bid documentation.


Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Monitor and report on the performance of the bid team, including win rates, bid quality, and adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Analyze bid outcomes to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement, using this data to refine bid strategies and processes.


Market and Competitor Analysis:

  • Conduct regular market and competitor analysis to inform bid strategies and ensure that CAE Technology Services remains competitive and responsive to market changes.
  • Use insights from market analysis to shape bid positioning and value propositions.

What is needed?

  • Extensive experience in bid management, with a proven track record of leading successful bids in the technology or IT services sector.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of the technology services industry, including market dynamics and competitive landscape.
  • Proficiency in bid management software and tools, as well as MS Office Suite.
  • APMP Foundation Certification

  • APMP Practitioner Certification
