Purpose of the Role:

Lloyds are seeking a skilled SQL Developer/Analyst to join their team focusing on the technical aspects of new Solvency Wind-down regulations. The candidate will work closely with their team lead, performing hands-on coding, database design, and ensuring that all technical requirements are met. This role demands a high degree of autonomy and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders to guarantee comprehensive understanding and implementation of requirements.

As a SQL Developer/Analyst you will:

  • Develop and maintain complex SQL databases, ensuring agility for recalculations as needed.
  • Perform hands-on coding and database design to support the wind-down strategy.
  • Collaborate with the existing technical team to enhance database building and storage manipulation.
  • Attend and actively participate in calls with various stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly understood and met.
  • Ensure the database solutions are flexible and adaptable to potential changes.

What we require from the candidate:

  • Proven experience in building complex SQL databases from the ground up.
  • Strong technical skills in Access and SQL.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage delegated tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at different levels.
  • Highly desirable: Knowledge of financial services, particularly in derivatives, close out costs, and trade book wind-down.

About the team

The Derivative and Prudential Valuation team are a very approachable team, always happy to answer questions and support employee development. They work closely together to deliver and develop, strongly encouraging knowledge sharing and cross skilling.

The team are responsible for performing valuation related activities for derivative exposures across all divisions.

They're part of the Commercial Banking Finance community, but their work across divisions means they also enjoy close working relationships with teams across the group including GCT, Insurance and Risk.

You'll have the opportunity to develop technical skills as well as a commercial understanding of the Products, Businesses and Risks associated with Fair Value instruments - becoming a recognised specialist in valuations and able to support a senior audience, as well as providing insight and governance for key internal committees (e.g. Valuation Committee) and regulatory bodies (e.g. PRA)

You'll also build a great foundation in Commercial Banking Finance, developing strong communication skills and relationships across the group and gaining insight into exciting businesses including Trading, Treasury and Insurance.

This role will also provide the valuable building blocks around understanding pricing and valuations, which are highly regarded and transferable to other roles across Finance, Risk and Front Office.
